Live piano for the moments you want to remember.
Live piano for the changing mood of your day
Bath-based Matt Collins plays piano for weddings, with a repertoire spanning contemporary music, jazz, blues, ballads and boogie. His website describes more than thirty years of playing experience and an approach that follows the atmosphere of each part of the celebration, from a gentle ceremony entrance to a more upbeat drinks reception.
Music for the ceremony
Matt can play as guests arrive, accompany the entrance, provide music during the signing and finish with a recessional. Different entrance pieces for the wedding party and the couple can be discussed. Live performance also allows the timing to respond to what is happening, in coordination with the celebrant. If you have a meaningful song in mind, ask about a piano arrangement in advance rather than assuming it has to be in the standard repertoire.
Drinks, dining and personal requests
For drinks receptions, the music can become brighter and more contemporary while guests mingle. A wedding breakfast can have its own atmosphere, including music for the couple’s entrance and a selection drawn from Matt’s repertoire. Bookings are discussed around the agreed part of the event, so it is worth explaining the flow of your day rather than simply requesting a number of songs.
Piano setups and planning
Matt’s website describes digital piano setups for different locations, including a gloss-black mini-grand shell and a white ceremony upright. Equipment can be positioned before guests arrive, with the exact arrangements agreed for your venue. When enquiring, include the date, location and the sections of the wedding you would like covered. For outdoor plans, discuss the proposed position and practical requirements directly. His website has further repertoire information and a wedding information pack available by enquiry.
