Three bell tents, a lovely stretch of Somerset countryside and a wedding beside the river: Will’s wedding near Frome was a beautiful reminder that guest glamping doesn’t have to mean a huge tent village. Sometimes a small, thoughtfully arranged setup is just what a celebration needs.
For this very local wedding, Camp Chic supplied one Guest House bell tent and two Nude Pitch bell tents, with two king-size airbeds in each Nude Pitch. It was a simple mix of furnished comfort and flexible guest accommodation, all close to the celebrations.
Wedding guest glamping without a whole tent village
Not everyone at a wedding needs to stay in the same place. Some guests may have accommodation nearby, while a few would love to sleep on-site. A small group of bell tents can fill that gap, keeping those staying over close to the reception without turning the whole field into a campsite.
Will’s setup is a lovely example of that approach. The tents sat together in the green surroundings, with the marquee forming part of the wider wedding setting. It felt relaxed, personal and very much at home in the landscape.
Our usual wedding village bookings start at five tents, but this wedding was very close to our base near Frome, so we were happy to accommodate a smaller setup. Smaller local bookings are considered individually, depending on the date, location and practicalities. If you have a similar idea, please ask rather than assuming you need a large village.
A Guest House and two Nude Pitches: mixing the interiors
There’s no need to choose the same level of furnishing for every tent. At Will’s wedding, the Guest House provided the furnished option, while the two Nude Pitches were arranged with a pair of king-size airbeds apiece.
The Guest House package is our comfortable, styled choice, with a proper king-size bed, bedding, carpet, lighting and decorative touches. A Nude Pitch starts as the simpler, unfurnished bell tent option; the airbeds for this wedding were arranged as additions, rather than being standard inclusions in a Nude Pitch.

A riverside wedding setting near Frome
The setting deserved a moment of its own. The marquee interior was beautifully laid out for the wedding meal, with long tables, soft blue tablecloths, flowers and strings of lights beneath the canopy. Outside, four deckchairs looked towards the marquee across the riverside garden — a lovely spot to pause between the celebrations.
Our part in the day was the bell tent accommodation; these views of the marquee and grounds capture the wider wedding setting that made the visit so memorable.
Planning a late-summer bell tent setup
After the heatwaves earlier in the season, the recent rain had softened the hard ground here, which was welcome when it came to putting the tents up. The grass and riverside surroundings made a beautiful backdrop for a September wedding.
For couples planning something similar, the practical starting point is a reasonably level grass area with enough room for the tents and guy ropes, plus access for delivery. Ground conditions matter as well as the view. At a riverside site, the sleeping area needs to be appropriately set back from the water and suitable for the weather conditions.
